What a great time to pick up a good book!  We have two wonderful summer reading programs that our students may participate in. 

 

The first is Let's Read Seminole and it is sponsored by Seminole County Public Schools.  As your child reads this summer, they may fill out a book log.  When they turn in their book logs in the fall, they will have a chance to be selected for a prize!  For more information or additional book logs please visit www.letsread.scps.k12.fl.us/.

 

The second program is sponsored by Scholastic Books and it is called Read for the World Record.  We are working together as a school team to try to beat the world record for number of minutes read between May 1 and August 31.  Last year's winning school read a total of 683,057 minutes!  You can visit www.scholastic.com/summerreading/index.htm to find out more about this fun program and to assist your child in signing in to the web site.

 

Both of these programs are optional and I am just offering them as possible ways to help your child continue to stay excited about reading all summer long.  More information about these programs along with your child's first book log is being sent home in the Communication Folder on June 1st.
